The Sochi Olympic torch relay will include a dolphin three days before the opening ceremony, according to R-Sport.

Either MonaLada or Basya will be the lucky maritime mammal chosen from Sochi’s Sea Star dolphinarium.

The dolphin will not actually touch the torch or be that close to the flame, according to the report.

“An animal trainer is to hold a dolphin’s fin in one hand and the torch in the other before the pair swims across a small pool,” R-Sport reported.

Add this to the other unprecedented feats in the Sochi Olympic torch relay, which began Monday in Moscow.

Will there be some human communication device aka sign that reads: The Blood of my Species runs red in Tahiji while you stupid humans run around with fire sticks?

I’m appalled at NBC news running this Olympic news piece. The likelihood of the “lucky” dolphin having been kidnapped from his/her pod in Taiji Japan is very high as Russia sources dolphins from Taiji’s reprehensible drive hunt. Or perhaps the dolphin was ripped from the pod while the rest of the unsuitable for captivity (read: not pretty enough) dolphins were slaughtered before his/her eyes. Is NBC really this misinformed and heartless? Do a search on dolphins in Taiji Japan and get educated!
