Boogie, a chocolate Labrador, ran 13 miles of a half marathon (13.1 miles) on Saturday and received a participation medal for his effort.

Enjoy it while it lasts. Boogie has an appointment with a veterinarian.

“He’s going to lose part of his manhood here,” Boogie’s owner, Jerry Butts, told The Associated Press. “That was part of the deal, and now he’s got an identification chip, too.”

Boogie, 8 years old and 100 pounds, reportedly escaped on Friday night and ran the Evansville (Ind.) Half Marathon the following day. He reportedly crossed the finish at 2 hours, 15 minutes, which would have placed about 900th among 2,015 runners.

The Evansville Courier & Press filed this video report on Boogie receiving his medal.
