Mo Farah wonders if sub-2-hour marathon is possible

Mo Farah is certainly not lacking confidence as he prepares to switch to marathon running.

Farah, the Olympic champion in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters, “is considering the feasibility” of breaking two hours, according to the Times of London.

The marathon world record is 2 hours, three minutes and 23 seconds, set by Kenyan Wilson Kipsang at the Berlin Marathon on Sunday. The previous mark was also set in Berlin, Patrick Makau‘s 2:03:08 in 2011.

It’s quite an ambitious goal for Farah, 30, whose best times in the 5,000 and 10,000 are more than 15 seconds slower than Kenenisa Bekele‘s world records. Farah’s going to make his marathon debut in London in April.
