The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) said “serious issues” were raised in a report this week that Jamaica carried out one out-of-competition drug test in the five months leading into the 2012 Olympics.

WADA director general David Howman told The Associated Press his organization needs to investigate those issues after the former executive director of the Jamaica Anti-Doping commission wrote of “troubling” problems in Sports Illustrated.

Jamaica swept the 100 meters, 200 meters and 4×100-meter relays at the recently completed World Track and Field Championships. The island of 2.7 million is home to the world’s fastest man — Usain Bolt – and the world’s fastest woman — Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.

It’s also home to recent doping scandals. Olympic 200-meter champion Veronica Campbell-Brown, former 100-meter world record holder Asafa Powell and 2008 Olympic silver medalist in the women’s 100, Sherone Simpson, were among athletes who tested positive earlier this year.
