Lolo Jones is still aiming to win an Olympic medal, but the chase just got a whole lot colder.

The 100m-hurdler traded in her track shoes at this weekend’s bobsled team selection races in Lake Placid, N.Y. as her and teammate Jazmine Fenlator finished second on opening night, clocking a time of 1:57.01 over two runs. They fell only 0.05 seconds behind leaders Jamie Greubel and Aja Evans.

“I’m just trying to take it all in,” Jones told the AP. “It’s a new sport for me and there’s a ton of room for improvement… I’m coming in here trying to learn everything quickly. I’m looking forward to fixing some things and hammering it out.”

Jones – not remotely the first hurdler to try her legs at bobsledding – was in the lead after her first run Saturday. She was asked to try out by coach Todd Hays after she finished seventh at the push championships last month, and might actually be good enough to grab a spot on the World Cup team.
